About Matthew

Matthew Boylan is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Oregon and is the founder of Relate Space Counseling, LLC. After earning his Master of Arts in Marriage, Couple, and Family Counseling from George Fox University, Matthew began pursuing certification in Gottman Couples Counseling. He is also trained in Equine Assisted Therapy and is a Certified EAGALA Therapist through the Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Association. 

Matthew grew up in many different places: Namibia, Mexico, Guatemala, Florida, and Hawaii to name a few. When he isn’t busy being a therapist, Mathew can be found running and cycling, playing with his pets, trying out a new recipe or new coffee roaster, or enjoying time with his wife.

Matthew’s Approach to Therapy & Specializations

Matthew works with individuals, teenage and older, and couples of all ages. He uses a Psychodynamic approach with individuals with focuses on emotions and attachment. Matthew has been successful in helping couples in many challenging situations through the use of Gottman Couples therapy. He has additional training and experience treating trauma and often uses Equine Assisted Therapy.
